Welcome to Socotra International Airport!✈️ Your Socotra Phoenix Tours guide will be waiting just outside the airport to assist with your luggage and escort you to the car. Don’t worry—the airport is very small and easy to navigate. From here, you’ll meet the rest of our friendly team, and your Socotra adventure officially begins!🌴 Our first stop is a warm welcome lunch with a local family, where you’ll enjoy traditional Socotri hospitality and home-cooked flavors. Afterward, we head straight to the spectacular Arher Beach, where towering white sand dunes meet turquoise waters. Spend the afternoon swimming, relaxing, or climbing the dunes for breathtaking island views.
Your second day on Socotra begins before sunrise! 🌅A short hike from camp takes you to the perfect viewpoint to witness one of the most breathtaking sunrises of your life. After soaking in the early-morning views, we return to camp for a hearty breakfast. Then, you’ll have the option to choose between two unforgettable experiences: 1. Snorkeling at Dihamri Marine Reserve 🐠 Located along Socotra’s northern coast, this protected marine reserve is one of the island’s best snorkeling spots. The waters are crystal clear and alive with color—sea turtles, parrotfish, leopard eels, octopuses, and countless other species can be spotted here. A local dive master is available on-site, and for only $5 you can rent equipment if you’d like to venture into deeper waters. Many travelers happily spend hours here, exploring the vibrant underwater world. 2. Hiking to Hoq Cave 🏞️ Alternatively, embark on an adventurous trek to Hoq Cave, a massive limestone cavern stretching nearly 3 km inside. Along the way, you’ll pass Dragon’s Blood Trees, frankincense trees, and stunning views of the coast. Inside the cave, discover surreal rock formations, stalactites, and ancient Socotri inscriptions that echo the island’s mysterious past. Whichever path you choose, Day 2 promises awe-inspiring natural wonders and unforgettable adventure.
After enjoying breakfast beneath the Dragon Blood Trees, we’ll leave the high central plateau behind and journey westward toward the coast. Our first stop is Qalansiya, the island’s charming second-largest town. From here, it’s a short drive to the breathtaking Detwah Lagoon, a UNESCO-protected area famous for its turquoise waters and rich marine life. The lagoon is home to pufferfish, stingrays, starfish, and even sea turtles. You’ll have time to swim, relax, and wander along its pristine white sand beach. After lunch at the campsite, a unique experience awaits—you’ll take a short hike to meet the legendary “Caveman of Socotra.” Living by the lagoon, he will welcome you with tea inside his cave and introduce you to the fascinating creatures that call the lagoon home. The day winds down with dinner and overnight camping beside Detwah Lagoon, under a sky of countless stars.
Sailing Adventure to Shoab Beach This morning is dedicated to the sea! 🌊After breakfast, we’ll set out on a traditional boat ride toward the pristine Shoab Beach. The journey takes about 1 hours, and along the way, it’s common to encounter playful pods of dolphins swimming alongside the boat—a magical experience in itself. Upon arrival, you’ll discover Shoab’s untouched paradise: powdery white sand, crystal-clear waters, and a serene atmosphere that makes it one of the island’s most breathtaking beaches. Spend the morning swimming, relaxing, and soaking up the tranquility of this hidden gem. After ample time at Shoab, we’ll return by boat to Detwah Lagoon for a freshly prepared lunch and a relaxed afternoon at camp. Whether you choose to swim, nap, or simply enjoy the lagoon’s views, the day offers the perfect balance of adventure and rest.
